Effective antimalarial drug in the treatment of corona
Washington
New research has emerged against the malaria drug hydroxychloroquine. Because of this, the hopes of the world in the war against the corona virus have increased. According to the latest research, the hydroxychloroquine drug, when given to patients infected with zinc coronavirus, can save many lives. India has exported this drug to countries around the world.
Researchers say azithromycin administered hydroxychloroquine, zinc supplements, and antibiotics. The risk of corona patients being discharged and dying is reduced. However, these drugs do not reduce the patient’s length of hospital stay or the need for ventilators or oxygen. According to the Grossman School of Medicine at New York University, the research results are quite encouraging, but more studies are needed.
The university said clinical trials are needed for this combination. The specialist of the University of Infectious Diseases, Dr. Joseph Rahmiyan told the DailyMail newspaper in the UK that at the beginning of the coronary outbreak, we didn’t know if the drug was working and if the drug was not. Now there is some evidence that zinc works because it is antiviral. So we wanted to see if it was useful for corona patients or not.
‘Mortality rate of patients also decreased 36 percent do’
He said that in the study The patients were tested from March 2nd to April 5th. Half of these patients received zinc sulfate, hydroxychloroquine and azithromycin. The remaining half received only hydroxychloroquine and azithromycin. Research showed that patients given zinc sulfate, hydroxychloroquine and azithromycin had a recovery rate that was one and a half times that of the other group. Not only that, the mortality rate was 36 percent lower. Other than that, the rate of keeping such patients on the ventilator was also low. Oxford University will also begin research on hydroxychloroquine and azithromycin.
US President Donald Trump previously described hydroxychloroquine as a game changer, but later the doctors were very disappointed. Brazilian scientists had even stopped using this malaria drug. He said a quarter of the patients who were given this medicine as an experiment had a heart problem. The Brazilian president compared this medicine to the herb Sanjivani and compared PM Modi to Hanuman.
Note: Navbharat Times Online does not confirm Corona’s research claims regarding the drug.
