Hydrocarbons: Cameroon will import 645,000 tonnes of petroleum products in four months

The government has just launched an international consultation notice for the selection of traders for the period from April to July 2023.

As part of Cameroon’s sustainable supply of petroleum products, Gaston Eloundou Essomba, Minister of Water and Energy (Minee) launched an open international consultation for the selection of traders. This is for the delivery of petroleum products to local importers. This concerns the supply of 654,000 metric tons of petroleum products for the month of April; may ; June and July 2023.

The Minee press release specifies that the submission can be made on one or more lots as follows: lot A: 245,000 metric tons of super (gasoline); lot B: 290,000 metric tons of diesel; lot C: 60,000 metric tons of jet A1; lot D: 20,000 metric tons fuel oil 1,500 and lot E: 30,000 metric tons fuel oil 3,500.

Despite its own supply difficulties, materialized by shortages on the market, Cameroon will continue to facilitate the supply of the Central African Republic (CAR) with petroleum products during the year 2023. The announcement was made by the Minee during an audience he granted to his counterpart in charge of the development of energy and hydraulic resources, Arthur Bertrand Piri.

Already in 2022, during a similar operation, the Cameroonian government had also launched a call for expressions of interest in the search for trading companies recognized on the international market for the supply to local marketers of 510,000 metric tons of petroleum products. on behalf of 3th quarter 2022.
