Jakarta

The Ministry of Trade (Kemendag) through the Directorate General of Domestic Trade issued Circular Number 03 of 2023 concerning Sales Guidelines Frying Oil People. This guideline aims to ensure the availability and price stability of people’s cooking oil in the community.

In addition, this guideline also aims to restore the highest retail price of HET packaged cooking oil of IDR 14,000 per liter and IDR 15,500 of bulk oil per kg. The guideline also prohibits people’s cooking oil from being sold in bundling.

“The Ministry of Trade ensures that the availability of cooking oil ahead of fasting and Eid is safe. To ensure price stability and prevent price increases, the Ministry of Trade needs to regulate guidelines for selling people’s cooking oil to producers, distributors and retailers,” said Acting Director General of Domestic Trade, Kasan, in a written statement, Friday. (10/2/2023).

The circular letter issued on 6 February 2023 also stated three points of guidelines that manufacturers, distributors and retailers must comply with. Firstsales of people’s cooking oil must comply with the domestic prize obligation (DPO) price and the highest retail price (HET).

Secondsales of people’s cooking oil are prohibited from using the bundling mechanism with other products. Thirdsales of people’s cooking oil by retailers to consumers are at most 10 kg per person per day for bulk cooking oil and 2 liters per person per day for MINYAKITA packaged cooking oil.

“All parties must comply with the guidelines for selling people’s cooking oil. The Ministry of Trade will not hesitate to supervise and take action against business actors who ignore this regulation,” said Kasan.

He also reiterated that ahead of this year’s fasting month and Eid al-Fitr, the Ministry of Trade will ensure the fulfillment of domestic demand for DMO (Domestic Market Obligation) people’s cooking oil, both in the form of bulk cooking oil and packaged cooking oil with the MINYAKITA brand. The supply of cooking oil has also been increased by 50% more per month to 450 thousand tonnes per month.

In addition, the Ministry of Trade has also begun to stop selling people’s cooking oil online. Sales of people’s cooking oil, both bulk and packaged, are focused on the people’s market.

“Sales of People’s Cooking Oil, especially MINYAKITA online, have temporarily stopped and Sales of People’s Cooking Oil are currently prioritized at People’s Markets so that there is even distribution for middle and lower income people to be able to buy people’s cooking oil easily and at affordable prices,” concluded Kasan.
