Hungary once again protested the European Parliament

Hungarian MPs passed a resolution calling for limiting the powers of the Parliament of the European Union arguing that he has brought democracy in Europe to a “dead end”.

The resolution, passed by members of Hungary’s ruling Fidesz party, recommends that national parliaments be given the ability to veto any legislation proposed at EU level, thereby reducing the legislative power of the European Parliament.

It also states that EU MPs must be appointed by national parliaments, instead of being elected by the voters of the respective states, as is the case now.

His country is facing serious economic challenges

“European democracy must be led out of the dead end into which the European Parliament has brought it,” the resolution says. “The European Union must change because it is not prepared for the challenges of our time.”

The Hungarian parliament approved the resolution at a time when The EU continues to refuse billions of funds for recovery and lending to Hungary due to concerns that its right-wing government does not respect rule of law standards and does not implement sufficient anti-corruption measures.
