Hudson Yards welcomes tallest ice skating rink – NBC New York (47)

NEW YORK — Aren’t you afraid of heights? Are you an avid ice skater? Do you love sports despite your inability to stand?

New York City’s tallest ice rink is officially open at Edge at Hudson Yards.

The 1,024-square-foot synthetic ice rink, Sky Skate, is located on the inside section of the Edge’s upper deck. It opened on Tuesday and will only be available for a limited time, until March 14th. While inside, skaters can still enjoy spectacular views of New York City for what the Edge calls “a truly epic winter adventure.”

Daily skate sessions run from 10am to 8pm and there is a live DJ for the last three hours of activity every Thursday and Friday. Tickets are limited and you can only book one 30-minute skating session. Those interested can get more information about Sky Skate here.

For the unfamiliar, the Edge boasts the tallest open-air aerial platform in the Western Hemisphere, soaring 1,131 feet into the air and extending 65 feet from the 100th floor of 30 Hudson Yards. It has a glass floor and angled glass walls.

There’s also a champagne bar.

If skating isn’t your thing, try doing a city tour starting at 1,200 meters, in a harness of course. This is another experience in Edge. Learn more about their offerings at Hudson Yards here.
