Aachen/Krefeld HTC Blau-Weiss Krefeld’s chances of being promoted directly back to the 1st Bundesliga suffered a severe setback on Friday. The direct pursuer from the city forest suffered a bitter 2:7 defeat at the still undefeated leaders of the 2nd league north, the TK Blau-Weiss Aachen. The end result was too clear, as the Krefelders held against it in all matches, but were behind by 2:4 because of two lost champions tie breaks in the individual games – Tom Schönenberg and Gero Kretschmer drew the short straw.
On Sunday, the derby against Rot-Weiss Cologne follows on Hüttenallee, which was treated as a big promotion favorite before the season.
