WhatsApp has several options to personalize the user experience within the messaging service. In this note, a tour of seven tools that can be useful.

1. Two-step verification

This option allows you to add an extra layer of security to your account so that, when verifying it on a device, you will be asked for your code, which consists of a six-number PIN that you must create when enabling this tool.

To activate the verification in two steps you have to press on the three points that are in the upper margin of the chat, then you go to Settings and from there to the window that says “Account”. Then you click on Verification in two steps and from there you enable this option.

2. Fingerprint lock

This tool allows you to block access to chats with your fingerprint so that to enter those particular windows, you will have to place your finger on the sensor of your cell phone. This way you can prevent other people from reading your conversations.

To do this, it is necessary to enter the three points that appear in the upper margin, then go to Settings, Account, Privacy and choose the option Fingerprint Lock. You activate it and place your finger on the sensor so that the reader recognizes you.

3. Hide conversations

If for some reason you want a chat to stop appearing as soon as you log in to your account, what you have to do is press on that conversation and then select the square icon with the down arrow. By doing so that conversation will be archived. It will reappear in the chat list when you send or receive a new message.

4. Highlight the most important chats

You can also choose to highlight the conversations that interest you the most so that they are always seen at the top of the chat.

When you want a conversation to be on top of everything, tap that chat and go to the pin symbol to make it stand out first.

5. Free up space
To manage and free the space that the content you receive by WhatsApp occupies, enter the Settings menu, then where it says Data and storage and finally click on Storage use to start managing the amount of space that the different files and messages occupy that you send through your WhatsApp.

6. Backups

You can also choose to back up all your chats to avoid losing conversations when, for example, you change your phone. To do this, in the Settings menu you go to Chats, then to Backup and where it says Save you choose how often you want the backup of your conversations to be made.

7. Make video calls of up to 50 people

One of the latest news that came to WhatsApp is the option to make video calls with up to 50 people. For this, you have to enter a WhatsApp chat and click on the clip symbol that appears next to the photo camera icon at the bottom of the interface.

Once this is done, the options menu will be displayed and you must choose the one that appears as a recording camera with a clip inside with the name “Room”.

After clicking there, a message appears where the user will be given the option to be redirected to go to Facebook Messenger and create a virtual room there to be able to establish the video call with 50 people simultaneously.
