Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Acting Deputy for Innovation Strengthening of the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) Erry Ricardo Nurzal revealed the latest developments regarding research Red and White Vaccine in the homeland.
Speaking at the webinar of the Society of Indonesian Science Journalists entitled “Red and White Vaccine Research Progress: Recent Challenges and Opportunities” which took place on Monday (23/8/2021), Erry revealed that there were 7 institutions that developed the Red and White Vaccine in Indonesia.

- LBM Eijkman
- Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI)
- University of Indonesia (UI)
- Airlangga University (Unair)
- Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB)
- Gadjah Mada University (UGM)
- Padjadjaran University (Unpad)
According to him, each institution conducts research on a different platform. For example, LBM Eijkman uses recombinant proteins, while Unair uses inactivated viruses.
“BRIN is verysupport development of the vaccine. The foremost ones are Eijkman and Bio Farma, which God willing will also come out next year. Likewise with Unair and Biotis, which God willing, will come out next year,” said Erry.
According to him, BRIN’s support is not only in terms of funding, but also facilities.
“There has also been coordination with the Ministry of Health in terms of research, so starting from lab-scale research then vector expression to then vaccine seeds and also then GMP production until the preclinical test is carried out.support by BRIN. Then the phase I-III clinical trials until the distribution permit, God willing, will be carried out.support by the Ministry of Health,” said Erry.
“Of course BRIN also focuses on facilitating researchers and industry partners to achieve targets well scientifically proven and also strive to meet regulatory standards from the authorities. So that the Red and White Vaccine is ready to be released,” he continued.
