Apple recommends that whenever you clean your AirPods or charging case, use a soft, dry, lint-free cloth. Do not place them underwater, as this is very dangerous for the headphones. However, it is safe to moisten a cloth and clean the AirPods, as long as you dry them with a different cloth, and do not return the headphones to the case or try to use them until they are completely dry.
