How to Lock Columns in Microsoft Excel

Freezing the first column

  • Select Tap Show
  • Select the Freeze Panel Tab
  • Next select Freeze First Column.

Then automatically the first column will be locked when you scroll the work area.

To see if it’s been locked a faint line will appear between Columns A and B showing that the first column is frozen.
