Houthi rebels seize Israeli cargo ship bound for India; Israel denied the claim

Houthi rebels claim to have captured an Israeli cargo ship bound for India. The ship was seized by Houthi rebels in the southern Red Sea. About 25 citizens of various countries are on board. People on board are from Ukraine, Bulgaria, Philippines and Mexico. The Houthis claimed it was an Israeli ship and captured it. It is reported that the owner of this ship ‘Galaxy Leader’ is an Israeli billionaire.

But Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has responded after the news that the Houthis captured a British-owned and Japanese-controlled cargo ship. Netanyahu’s office said that the ship was not theirs and that the incident exposed challenges related to the security of global shipping lanes.

The Houthi forces have finally announced that the ship captured in the southern Red Sea has been delivered to a port in Yemen. A Houthi military spokesman said the ship’s crew were treated according to Islamic principles. The Houthis hijacked the ship by landing fighters via helicopter.

Houthi sources have previously said they are targeting all Israeli-flagged ships owned by Israeli companies. They have informed that the crews from other countries working on such ships should be immediately recalled by their respective countries and that the attacks in the Red Sea and Baba Al Mandeb Straits will also be increased.

In a statement shared on X, Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree said that military operations against Israel will continue until it ends its attacks on Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank.
