Houthi drone attack on oil tanker in Yemen | Yemen: Houthi drones attack ship at oil terminal

Sanaa: Houthi rebel drone attack on oil tanker in Yemen. The accident occurred on Monday afternoon. The attack occurred on a vessel docked at the Al-Daba oil terminal near the southern city of Mukalla.

The government said in a statement that the drone strike occurred while the commercial vessel was in Al-Daba port. The attack was carried out with the intention of preventing the government from obtaining revenue from oil exports. The country’s population is concerned that this could disturb the peaceful atmosphere which has prevailed in the region for some months. The fierce conflict between the Houthi rebels and the government had been easing for a few days.

Houthi rebels tweeted claiming responsibility for the attack. Rebel spokesman Yahya Zaria said the Houthi armed group managed to chase down a tanker that had arrived near the port of al-Daba.

Since 2014, the war in Yemen has begun between Houthi rebels and pro-government forces. So far more than 1.5 million people have been killed and 30 people have fled.
