After a stopgap spending measure failed on Friday in the House of Representatives, Speaker Kevin McCarthy successfully pushed forward a measure on Saturday that would keep the government funded for 45 days. It passed with 335 in favor and must now pass the Senate. Under the special rules of this vote, two-thirds of those present — including a significant number of Democrats — had to vote in favor for the measure to pass.
