Child Pornography on MEGA
Mega is a file hosting platform, which can be used to conveniently share large files and amounts of files in particular. However, with all larger platforms, it must be expected that uploaded data will be searched for criminal content. On the way, original users come into the focus of the authorities, but depending on the system also other users who have only gained access.
With MEGA there is now the special feature that files are encrypted before uploading, so searching – for example using PhotoDNA – would not be possible at all. However, the procedures available here show that investigative approaches are nevertheless possible.
In the case of MEGA, only the first details of the investigation have become known to us, which we are aware of Not communicate.
