Daemon approaches Rhea and stops on her body. He leaves without saying a word. “I knew you couldn’t finish. Cowardly! she yells at him. This causes the Demonon to stop abruptly. He takes a rock and goes back to Rhea. Well, we certainly know what will happen next.
Otto warns of the war if Rhaenyra becomes queen
On the way to Driftmark to propose marriage between Rhaenyra and Laenor Velaryon, Viserys falls seriously ill. Alicent stays behind and sees her father before she leaves King’s Landing. He quietly blames her for firing her as she was the one who told Rhaenyra what she knew about her about her night with Daemon.
Alicent continues to defend Rhaenyra, telling her father that Rhaenyra was sworn to be innocent. Otto thinks Alice should have seen him coming. She snaps that he shouldn’t have been so determined to have Aegon named heir.
Otto warns Alicent that if Rhaenyra succeeds Viserys, “war will follow”. He says that “the kingdom will not accept it”. In order for Rhaenyra to get her affirmation, Otto tells Alicent that his children will have to die. He insists it will happen sooner rather than later. Alicent has a choice: prepare Aegon to become the heir or be at Rhaenyra’s mercy.
Viserys proposes the marriage of Rhaenyra and Laenor
The Targaryens arrive at Driftmark. Viserys has seen better days. Corlys is not there to greet Viserys when he arrives. Viserys chooses not to let this sour him.
Lord Larys Strong manages to catch Alicent’s ear and continues to sow doubts. He says that Rhaenyra is “sick” and says that the Grand Master handed her tea. Alicent soon realizes that she has been lied to by Rhaenyra.
Corlys bows to Viserys when they finally reunite and Rhaenys greets her cousin too. Corlys is the one who announces the death of Rhea Royce. “A hunting mishap,” explains Rhaenys before adding that his “neck and skull” were both “crushed in the fall.” Corlys notes that “Rhea’s skills as a knight and hunter were well known,” so this incident is very unusual.
Lyonel Strong, the new hand of the king, understands the hints the Velaryons are leaving. Rhaenys states that Daemon and Rhea had no heirs. Viserys wants to change the subject away from her brother. He proposes marriage between Laenor and Rhaenyra.
Corlys wants to sort out some details before accepting Viserys’ offer. Corlys wants to know how the estate will be managed. Viserys points out that Rhaenyra is his heir. The eldest son of Rhaenyra and Laenor, regardless of her gender, will inherit the Iron Throne from her. Corlys wants to know if the children will take the surname Laenor. Viserys doesn’t think the Targaryen dynasty should end with Rhaenrya just because she’s a woman. He decides to compromise with Corlys. Viserys will give birth to children and take the name of the father, but when the firstborn takes the throne, he will take the name of Targaryen. That’s when they shake hands for marriage.
Meanwhile, Laenor and Rhaenyra are chatting on the beach. Rhaenyra knows that she is not the one he would choose, but she wants to make a deal. They fulfill their duty to the kingdom – an heir – and when that is done, then “each of us dines as we see fit.”
Corlys and Rhaenys discuss the upcoming wedding. Rhaenys evokes Laenor’s “true nature”. Corlys thinks Laenor is “still young” and that she will “get over him”. Rhaenys knows it won’t happen. He thinks they are putting their son in danger. Corlys doesn’t see it that way. Rhaenys knows that Rhaenyra’s succession will be contested because the king has a son. “The knives will come out. For her, her husband and their heirs, ”she told her husband.
Laenor and her lover, Ser Joffrey Lonmouth, have time for themselves. “It’s better than we could have hoped for,” Joffrey said. “He has a lover all of him. “
Criston declares his love
On the way back to King’s Landing, Criston comes face to face with Rhaenyra. “If there was another road, the one that leads to freedom, would you take it? he asks her. The Velaryons arrive in King’s Landing for the wedding. Alicent is notably absent along with the king. Rhea Royce’s cousin attends the wedding and the king offers his condolences. When Laenor takes his place beside Rhaenyra at the party, it becomes clear to Rhaenyra who truly holds Laenor’s heart.
To liven up the night, Daemon shows up unexpectedly. He doesn’t say a word to Viserys and takes a seat at the back of the table. Daemon and Rhaenyra can’t help but exchange cheeky looks.
Viserys is in the middle of her speech when Alicent finally arrives … dressed in green. Viserys doesn’t seem happy that Alice interrupted him. Larys tells her brother, Harwin Strong, that green is a sign of war. Viserys continues his speech and Daemon catches Rhaenyra’s attention again.
The night is a game of stolen glances. Daemon watches Rhaenyra as she and Laenor dance, while Laena Velaryon keeps an eye on Daemon. Rhaenyra looks at Criston, who looks at Alicent. Alicent’s eyes are on Rhaenyra. Joffrey puts two and two on Rhaenyra and Criston.
Rhea’s cousin confronts Daemon during the party. He thinks Daemon should pay for his crimes. The man openly accuses Daemon of killing Rhea. Daemon reveals that he plans to fly to the Eagle’s Nest after the wedding to get his hands on her runestone.
A dance with two sides of the same coin
Laena and Daemon flirt on the dance floor. As the dance continues, Joffrey takes a moment to talk to Criston. “We are both deeply involved in this union,” says Joffrey. Joffrey tells Criston that they must “swear to each other to keep them and their secrets”. Criston is alarmed that someone else knows what he did.
Like the magnets, Daemon and Rhaenyra find themselves back in each other’s orbit. They speak High Valryian so no one will know what they are talking about. “This is what you want? Demon said Rhaenyra.

She is in full control and he is thrilled. She can easily turn the tables with him as he can with her. She hates him and she loves him. Daemon grabs her face and it looks like they are about to kiss in front of everyone. Viserys watches everything unfold, but she can’t see it all due to the crowd.
Criston tue Joffrey et Rhaenyra se marie
Suddenly, a fight breaks out. Rhaenyra is thrown to the ground. Laenor chases after Criston, who punches him. Criston attacks Joffrey. Lyonel gestures for Harwin to walk through the crowd and grab Rhaenyra. This is by no means a struggle for Harwin.
Viserys starts nosebleeds as the fight escalates. Criston punches Joffrey’s face over and over until Joffrey is unrecognizable. Criston kills Joffrey. The crowd soon disperses and Laenor cries over her lover’s body.
Rhaenyra and Laenor get married quietly after the bloody fight. They say their vows through tears, with Joffrey’s blood yet to dry on the ground beyond. It becomes clear that Rhaenyra regrets her decision. Maybe she should have accepted Criston’s offer.
Criston heads to the Weirwood tree as he prepares to kill himself. Before he does, Alicent calls his name. Once the marriage is formalized, Viserys collapses. Rhaenyra’s perfect plan with Laenor has become incredibly complicated.
