House of Representatives approves a new billionaire aid plan to face the coronavirus crisis | Univision Politica News

The House of Representatives approved a three-trillion-dollar aid package for the coronavirus on Friday night, thanks to the support of the Democratic majority.

Senate Republicans announced ahead of today’s vote that they dismissed the proposal and called it “not viable.” President Trump is also opposed to the package and has threatened to veto it, in the unlikely event that it passed the Senate vote.

Democrats say there is a need to support America’s trade and families with more funds, above the three billion already approved, but Republicans say they want to wait to see how the economic revival unfolds in some states.

The Speaker of the Lower House, the Democrat Nancy PelosiHe wrote on Twitter that “we need a monumental bill that will provide the relief that our nation so desperately needs,” but the head of the Republican majority in the Senate, Mitch McConnellHe called the 1,800-page bill a “catalog of leftist extravagances” and criticized its seeking to include unauthorized immigrants, along with taxpayers, as authorized to receive direct payment.
