When the summer really gets going, Frankfurt will quickly become a hot place. The hours of sunshine can still be enjoyed in the following places.

Frankfurt – Slowly but surely it’s getting summery. At the weekend, the temperatures in Frankfurt should reach the 30 degree mark. If you look at the past summers and the forecasts of the experts, several hours of sunshine are likely to follow this year. Then the cobblestones of the big city quickly get hot – but the cool down is never really far away: Whether in the cozy shade of the green areas, in the dizzy heights of the high-rise roofs or in the cool water of the bathing areas – summer can be enjoyed in the following places in and around Frankfurt .

Towards the sun: The NFT Skybar

In Frankfurt it is advisable to meet the sun instead of evading it. The reason for this is the many great rooftop locations where you can end a summer’s day wonderfully at dizzy heights. Perhaps the most spectacular view can be enjoyed at the NFT Skybar & Restaurant, located on the 47th floor of the Hotel nhow. From Tuesday to Saturday – until 1 a.m. – there is a 360-degree all-round view of the skyline of the Main metropolis at 185 meters above Brussels Street. And of course cool drinks, delicious dishes and the eponymous NFT artworks.

Everything on the river: The Okriftler Uferbar on the Main

Just a short distance from the gates of Frankfurt and therefore ideally located for a short bike ride is the Uferbar am Okriftler Grove. Between shady trees, guests can make themselves comfortable in deckchairs right on the banks of the Main to watch the ducks and ships on the Main or watch the whole world go by. The friendly staff offers both snacks and cold drinks, including homemade iced teas as well as cocktails and long drinks. Visitors can also regularly enjoy music from live artists or DJs.

Water fun in XXL format: The Brentanobad

The refreshment classic on hot days is and remains a visit to the outdoor pool. One of the most popular addresses is the Brentanobad on Rödelheimer Parkweg – and one of the most impressive at that: The pool is 220 meters long and 50 meters wide, making the Brentanobad the largest outdoor pool in Germany. The lawn for sunbathing is also in XXL format, inviting parents to relax and children to let off steam. Ice cream is available in the Brentanobad in its own Italian ice cream parlour, and drinks can be enjoyed in the beer garden.

A touch of the Mediterranean: the Langener Waldsee

Water enthusiasts who head out of town in search of a cool dip don’t have to travel long distances. The Langener Waldsee is only around 15 kilometers south of Frankfurt and, with around 750,000 square meters of water, is the largest bathing lake in the Rhine-Main area. Thanks to the 900 meters of sandy beach, there is a Mediterranean feeling in the lido. On the lido grounds, visitors will also find a snack and drink stand, a campsite, a large bicycle and car parking lot, toilet and shower facilities and a nudist area.

Blossoming city oasis: Bethmannpark

Parks and green spaces are recommended for small summer escapes from the hustle and bustle of the city, and there is certainly no lack of them in Frankfurt: 45 large parks and around 350 green spaces combine to form a well-connected green system. The Bethmannpark on Friedberger Landstraße is one of the particularly beautiful local recreation opportunities. Thick walls and hedges shield the roughly three-hectare complex, including the Chinese garden, from street noise. Whether playing chess outdoors or reading amidst the blooming flower beds – the historical park allows visitors, which once included Goethe, to enjoy the summer in peaceful harmony. (rk)
