In order to make free financial resources available to hospitals and to enable payments to be made, hospitals have access to advance payments each month for 1/12 of the annual funding transferred by the National Health Service (NVD).

At the same time, hospitals must keep records of the allowances paid to staff involved in preventing the spread of Covid-19, the ministry explained.

After aggregating the costs of all hospitals, this funding will be reimbursed in accordance with the decision of the Cabinet of Ministers.

The funding estimated for March and April has been submitted to the Ministry of Finance (MoF) and it is planned that hospitals should receive it in the near future, the ministry said.

It has already been reported that regional hospitals have not received compensation in the amount of several million euros for bonuses for doctors who have worked in emergency conditions to prevent the spread of Covid-19, the head of the Latvian Hospital Association Jevgēņijs Kalējs said in an interview with LTV program “Rīta Panorāma” on Thursday.
