The month of April was particularly trying for the Quebec health network when 1,662 hospitalizations related to COVID-19 were recorded.

Of this number, nearly half (765) involved people aged 59 and under. The situation is all the more worrying since the 30 to 59 do not represent less than 675 of these 765 hospitalizations. The 60 to 69 year olds are however the age group most affected with 375 hospitalizations during the last month.

The situation was not rosy either in intensive care, where 396 patients were admitted. In this category, the most affected group is still the 60 to 69 year olds with 126 patients. With 100 people admitted to intensive care, those 50 to 59 are the second most impacted age group.

In that same month of April, 237 people lost their lives after contracting the coronavirus. 74 of them were people between 80 and 89 years old.

The youngest are not spared from the virus either, since around thirty people aged 19 and under had to be hospitalized. Twenty of them were under 9 years old. One person aged 10 to 19 has died, while three children aged 9 and under have been admitted to intensive care.
