From September 16 to 22, an average of 56.7 people were admitted to Belgian hospitals with Covid-19 every day, which is a decrease of 3 percent compared to the previous seven-day period. This is evident from the figures of health institute Sciensano on Thursday morning.

According to the latest figures, a total of 689 people are now in hospital (+1 percent), of whom 217 require intensive care (+1 percent).
Between September 13 and 19, an average of 2,057 new infections were diagnosed daily, an increase of 5 percent compared to the week before. But more tests were also taken in the same period: an average of about 47,213 per day (+11 percent). The positivity ratio has therefore fallen slightly to 4.8 percent.
In total, 1,229,236 infections have already been registered in our country since the start of the pandemic. The reproduction number is at 0.94, according to Sciensano’s dashboard, which means that the epidemic is waning slightly.
Between September 13 and 19, an average of 6 people died from Covid-19 every day, a decrease of 19 percent compared to the week before. The death toll in our country now stands at 25,533 Covid-19 deaths.
In the meantime, 74 percent of the total population has received a first dose of a corona vaccine, about 72 percent is fully vaccinated.
