Russian weightlifter Alexander Sedych suffered a terrible injury when both knees broke when he tried to keep a barbell weighing 400 kg.
A severe injury occurred during the European Championship of the World Raw Powerlifting Federation. Sedych, who defended his victory at the championship, had a four-kilo weight barbell loaded. He balanced with her for a while, but then his knees couldn’t withstand the pressure, they both broke and the Russian champion fell to the ground in pain.
Sedych was immediately transported to the hospital, where he underwent knee fracture surgery. “They sewed my quadriceps again and put my knees together. The main thing is that I have to lie in bed for two months now without any movement. Then I will learn to walk again,” said the Russian strongman, but did not say if he intended to return to weightlifting.
