Another death from a malfunctioning Takata airbag. This time a driver died due to an airbag failure on a 2002 model Honda Accord.
This marks the fourth death due to a problem with a Takata airbag. Repeated deaths due to faulty Takata airbags are forcing motorists to be vigilant and immediately check if their vehicle is affected by the recall program.
“Whatever you do, stop now and check to see if your vehicle has been affected by a Takata airbag recall. If so, make an appointment to get your free repair done as soon as possible,” the Agency said. US Highway Traffic Safety (NHTSA). Administrator Ann Carlson.

More than 33 million cars have been recalled due to defective and potentially lethal Takata airbags. The recall program due to Takata airbags is also happening globally, including Indonesia. Several Japanese and European manufacturers are recalling their cars affected by the Takata airbag failure.
The NHTSA documented that there were 63 million Takata airbags in 19 global auto brands that were requested to be recalled in 2013. Airbags are at risk of exploding in high temperatures. When it exploded, metal shrapnel ricocheted all over the car. Those metal fragments can injure and even kill motorists.
The explosive chemical contained in Takata airbags is ammonium nitrate. The chemical compound is used because it is 10 times cheaper than a safer chemical compound, namely guanidine nitrate.
