Rest area Toll roads in Indonesia will be equipped with hotels or lodging facilities. That way users can rest more comfortably after tired driving.
The head of the Public Communication Bureau of the PUPR Ministry, Endra S. Atmawidjaja, said that hotels were allowed in the rest area because currently the toll road is getting longer so additional facilities are needed for users. The plan is contained in the PUPR Ministerial Regulation Number 28 of 2021 concerning Rest Areas and Services on Toll Roads.
“The consideration is because the segments are getting longer and the toll road network is getting wider, so additional facilities are needed to serve toll road users,” said Endra to detik.com, Thursday (13/1/2022).
In accordance with PUPR Ministerial Regulation Number 28 of 2021, hotels are allowed to be in rest areas for temporary rest, especially in intercity rest and service areas (TIP), the type must meet conditions such as the number of rooms at most 100 units, rented out for a maximum of 12 hours, and equipped with a large parking area. provided separately with parking rest area.
“The parking area as referred to in letter c can accommodate at least 50 vehicles of class I (small vehicles including buses) and 30 vehicles of class II/III/IV/V (trucks with two or more axles),” writes article 39 paragraph (2). part d of the rule.

Related to that, Endra said that currently the Toll Road Business Entity (BUJT) especially PT Jasa Marga (Persero) Tbk is reviewing the system so that it can be resolved. According to him, it’s just a matter of technology that can be regulated.
“It’s a matter of technology, it can be overcome. BUJT, especially PT Jasa Marga, is reviewing a good system,” he said.
