Mobiles with foldable screens are starting to become commonplace, even though they still make up a very small percentage of all smartphones in percentage terms. Honor has now introduced its first contribution to the category.
The phone is called Magic V and is powered by Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. Females have invested in the same type of design as the Galaxy Z Fold. The internal folding screen is 7.9 inches, with a aspect ratio of 10.3: 9, 2272 x 1984 pixels, 90Hz refresh rate and HDR10 +. The panel is “IMAX Enhanced” certified.
The outer screen is similar to that of a regular smartphone, with the same aspect ratio as in Sony phones (21: 9). It is a 6.45-inch OLED with 1080 x 2560 pixels, 120Hz refresh rate and HDR10 +.
All editions of Magic V offer 12GB of RAM and the phone is available with 256GB or 512GB of storage. The battery has 4750mAh which is slightly more than in the Z Fold 3 (4400mAh). On the back are three cameras that all have 50MP: a main camera, a super wide-angle camera and a “color spectrum” camera. The front cameras for the inner and outer panels have 42MP.
Magic V runs Android 12 and Magic UI 6.0. It is not price-pressured foldable as the entry-level model costs the equivalent of SEK 14,320 – in China. A spokesperson says that the company has not decided whether the phone will be released globally.
