Innovative design

The design of the phone is very elegant; It represents a revolution in the industry standards of the foldable phone category with regard to thickness and weight. The weight of the phone is only 231 grams, and its thickness is 4.7 mm when opened and 9.9 mm when folded, i.e. less than one centimeter. In addition to this, the high quality of manufacturing increases its durability, especially since it is made of a joint containing titanium used in the aircraft industry, with the use of steel to provide a balance between light weight and durability.

The weight of the joint is up to 42 percent lighter than stainless steel, while impact-resistant steel is a key factor in the manufacture of the main body of the joint, aiming to balance thickness and durability for a low-thickness, yet strong design. The hinge was manufactured using a mechanism and tools that significantly reduce its internal area and total thickness, with its ability to withstand more than 400,000 folding operations, meaning the screen can be folded 100 times a day for 10 years, without the hinge being affected as a result, and without any gaps appearing between the two ends. the screen.

The phone also offers an ultra-thin cooling system, using a multi-layer approach with different materials and materials that include an ultra-thin vapor chamber, high thermal conductivity graphite, thermal conductivity gel and copper foil, with the aim of maintaining optimal performance levels and ensuring long-term durability. This cooling system makes the most of the internal space to achieve efficient cooling, despite the phone’s low thickness and the lack of a large volume of air to pass through to cool it. The entire cooling system has an area of ​​29,000 square meters, an increase of 12.5 percent compared to the previous generation of the series.

The phone offers 5 cameras, 3 on the back and 2 on the front. The first 50-megapixel wide-angle rear camera is equipped with a large f/1.9 aperture and a dedicated sensor to provide more light for images with greater clarity, better light exposure, and a richer dynamic color range. In addition, the new sensor is equipped with a fully optimized focus to improve subject detection and improve the focusing mechanism when taking photos. This feature is suitable for capturing live performances and sporting events because of its ability to intelligently detect facial expressions, such as smiling, and body positions such as jumping, ensuring that the best shots are captured while the subject is moving.

This technology improves startup speed, focus speed, shutter response, and shooting speed, compared to the previous generation, to capture any scene in fractions of a second. Asharq Al-Awsat visited Honor phone research centers in China and learned about how to develop the phone’s electronic circuits, including the battery. Work was done on developing an exclusive dual battery (on each side of the phone behind the screen) using silicon and carbon, which allows it to provide a superior charge but at half the size, which allowed the thickness of the phone to be significantly reduced, in addition to the use of a hinge and the advanced cooling mentioned above. The screen’s electrical pulse width modulation dimming technology works at a rate of up to 3840 Hz to reduce eye fatigue and ensure a comfortable viewing experience even during prolonged use sessions. This feature reduces screen brightness fluctuations and flickering, resulting in reduced eye strain and a comfortable viewing experience even in low-light conditions. The automatic night display feature adjusts the screen according to the time of use of the day; It displays warmer colors during the day and softer at night. Another impressive feature is that the phone offers privacy calls technology supported by artificial intelligence (AI Privacy Call), which prevents sound leakage from the speaker when speaking and those around the user hearing the call. Thanks to AI Directional Sound technology, the incoming volume adjusts to suit different environments and prevents sound leakage during the most private phone calls. In addition, there is support for Sound Energy Spatial Control technology, which generates opposing sound waves to prevent sound leakage, even if the call is in a quiet environment.
