The new generation of the Honda HR-V has been introduced for many weeks. We had it first trailerwhich revealed basically just the e: HEV logo on the stern, later the car he showed a little better. Now we have a complete performance ahead of us.

The carmaker explained the unusual design of the bow – the grille is always in the color of the car, it will not be black or framed in any way. It is also worth mentioning the hood, which was designed so that the driver can see well from the car, but at the same time it was well estimated where the wheels and corners of the car are.

At the rear, the lights take on the entire width of the car and also have a slightly more angular shape in profile. The HR-V no longer has a body that is so reminiscent of a coupe, but has retained the hidden rear door handles.

He doesn’t lie so much with the body anymore; the previous HR-V looked like a relatively small car, but the rear seats were unusually spacious. The novelty is to have 35 mm more legroom at the back. Thanks to the fuel tank under the front seats, the so-called Magic Seats also remain, smart rear seats with up-folding seats, thanks to which a second luggage compartment can be created.

This in general is obviously important; the carmaker devoted quite a lot of space to it in the presentation. She said that “two 26” mountain bikes or several surfboards could fit in and mentioned, in addition to the non-contact opening by kicking her feet under the bumper, the “walk away close” function, ie that the luggage compartment closes itself when one leaves the car.

In the interior, we see an effort similar to other new Honda – the dashboard is almost perfectly flat for the best possible view from the car. Infotainment is completely new compared to the previous generation, it is a system with which we have already had the honor in jazz and e. The carmaker states that its use in sequences of actions – ie open a menu, change something there and go back to eg map – is 50% faster compared to the older system.

The HR-V also got an improved Honda Sensing system that uses a single camera with artificial intelligence to recognize what it sees. The system should better recognize inattentive pedestrians at night and also prevent collisions not only with other cars, but also cyclists and motorcycles, or mitigate their consequences.

The offer also includes adaptive cruise control, monitoring of transverse traffic behind the car or blind spot monitoring. A novelty is the assistant for descending steep hills, which HR-V received, although all-wheel drive is not available.

The only drive system is the e: HEV system from Honda Jazz, which means a 1.5-liter four-cylinder as an electricity generator for the electric motor, which in most cases drives the wheels all by itself. Only in certain situations of steady driving at higher speeds will the clutch connect the internal combustion engine directly to the front wheels. The highest output of the system is 131 hp.
