On the 2nd, the Democratic Party of Korea held a separate meeting of the National Assembly Land, Infrastructure and Transportation Committee (National Land and Infrastructure Committee) Transportation Law Review Subcommittee to discuss a tariff system sure showing a difference in position between the government and the cargo union.
The cargo union will also participate in today’s so-called meeting to deliberate on the amendment to the Lorry Transportation Business Act, a bill related to the safe fare system. People’s Power Committee members and government officials will not attend the meeting. The ruling party plans not to attend the meeting unless the cargo union strike is withdrawn and the opposition party unilaterally withdraws from the budget bill.
The Democratic Party is in the position that the cargo union’s demand for the settlement of the safe fare system (abolition of the sunset system) and the expansion of voices should be accepted, but the government and the ruling party are in the position of unable to accept anything other than an extension of the sunset system for three years. The government and the ruling party are also discussing the abolition of the secure fare system. The cargo union is on strike for the ninth day today.
