Home prices fell slightly for third consecutive month in October | Economy

Prices for privately owned homes were again slightly lower last month than in the previous month. This is a small decrease of 0.5% from September prices. This is evident from data from Statistics Netherlands. Owning a house cost an average of 428,079 euros in October.

Prices for owner-occupied homes have been rising for years. Prices have increased mainly in the second half of last year and in the first half of this year. But there has been a slight decline in recent months.

This decrease is relative, by the way. Compared to a year ago, house prices are still on the rise. For example, a home for sale cost 7.8% more in October than it did twelve months earlier.

As of October, 14,863 homes changed hands. This is 8% less than in the same month last year. In the first ten months of this year, 156,621 homes were sold. This is 17% less than the same period last year.

Figures include existing owner-occupied dwellings only. New construction is not included.
