The Hague – Reducing mortgage interest deduction is not a requirement for the Netherlands to be able to collect the 6 billion euros from the European corona recovery fund. But there is a need to reform the housing market. As far as the European Commission is concerned, this can also be done with stricter mortgage requirements or by taxing the owner-occupied home as capital.
