Historical hail in Valencia that has filled the social networks with videos and photos of the moment and that has caused Aemet to establish the orange alert for rains and storms in Valencia and Castellón from noon this Friday until 11 p.m., and yellow in Alicante throughout the day. The Generalitat Emergency Coordination Center has also established the orange level pre-emergency due to rains and storms in the provinces of Valencia and Castellón. Aemet informs through its website that in the Valencian Community there is an orange alert (significant risk) for rain that will be more abundant on the coast of Valencia, Castellón and Alicante, although in the latter province the precipitation will be somewhat lower, up to 60 liters per square meter in 12 hours.
The storm of rain, wind and hail that has affected a large part of the Valencian Community has left Valencia and its metropolitan area hail balls the size of a cherry, which had only been previously reported once, on May 1, 2001.
As reported by the State Meteorological Agency (Aemete), the climatic data bank distinguishes different values for hailstorms depending on their size: 1 for hail; 2 for chickpea-size hail; 3 if it is the size of a cherry; and 4 if it is walnut-sized hail or larger.
In the interior of these provinces it will also rain today, although with somewhat less intensity and in general the rains could be accompanied by storms, more likely in Castellón and Valencia, both on the coast and in the interior.
Rainfall can accumulate in twelve hours 80 liters per square meter in the interior and coast of Castellón and interior and coast of Valencia.
Luckily it has been 20 seconds, although the size of the hail is not important but … #timeCV #Valencia pic.twitter.com/LWzu1L0UgA
