This truck driver had killed four people in a road accident. His first conviction led to a strong online mobilization
Rogel Aguilera-Mederos, a truck driver, was finally sentenced on Thursday, December 30, to 10 years in prison in the US state of Colorado for having killed four people in a traffic accident. In a first trial, he was sentenced to 110 years in prison.
Quickly, indignant Internet users mobilized. More than 5 million people, including reality star Kim Kardashian, have asked for clemency for the Cuban immigrant in a petition. In April 2019, his brakes failed on a descent while carrying timber. In its mad rush, his truck caused the pile-up of 28 vehicles.
