Hipra’s booster dose creates more antibodies than Pfizer’s

Although all the informative quota is being carried away by the Russian invasion in Ukraine, there is still coronavirus pandemic. Infections and deaths continue to occur every day, although to a lesser extent compared to months ago, and they also continue to be effective as a reminder to end the disease once and for all.

One of the most anticipated is Spanish vaccine Hipra, which is still being tested. Preliminary data from the latest clinical trial, which has had the participation of 700 volunteers in ten hospitals throughout Spain, suggest that the Spanish vaccine generates more antibodies than Pfizer’s as a booster dose.

Better results than Pfizer

In this way, the trial indicates that the antibodies of the people who received a booster dose with Pfizer six weeks after the complete regimen were multiplied by 67. In contrast, those who received the reminder from the Catalan company had better results: his antibodies multiplied by 147.

But the benefits of Hipra as a booster dose do not stop there. The same study concludes the feared side effects of the Spanish antidote applied as reinforcement they are lighter than those who had those who received the Pfizer puncture.

Trials to compare Hipra with AstraZeneca

In view of these results with Pfizer, the goal of the company from Girona is to find out what is happening with AstraZeneca, another of the most used vaccines throughout the different vaccination campaigns worldwide. Therefore, the Spanish Agency for Medicines and Health Products has given its go-ahead to start a second phase IIb clinical trial.

This second complementary trial, moreover, would allow compare immunogenicity against omicron which provides the full AstraZeneca regimen with Hipra booster with the full Pfizer regimen with Hipra booster. The study will have the participation of around 270 volunteers and will be carried out in five Spanish hospitals once the EMA approvalwhich will not arrive until last April.

In Hipra they are very optimistic about the arrival of the first Spanish vaccine. They believe that the EMA will give its approval to this antidote and it is already beginning to be produced so that when the green light arrives from the European body, it can already begin to be distributed. Currently, according to La Vanguardia, in Hipra they are producing 50 million doses per month. By the end of April they hope to have 128 million doses.
