The next year of the prestigious film festival, which has been held since 1946, is coming to an end. (And by the way, do you know that the first year was not held in Vary, but in Mariánské Lázně?) This year, too, it attracted famous foreign guests – Russell Crowe, Alicia Vikander, Ewan McGregor, Robin Wright and Patricia Clarkson accepted the invitation. Of course, the Czech stars were outnumbered here, and they carefully prepared for the days filled with one social event after another.
Who liked it in Vary?
It is gratifying that the fashion bar of the festival moves a little higher every year. Famous faces leave nothing to chance and collaborate with hairdressers, make-up artists, stylists and designers so that they represent themselves on the red carpet. In addition, the vast majority of models in which our stars in Karlovy Vary appear in society come from local sources.
Although countless different events took place during the festival week, the invited guests paid the most attention to the preparation for the opening ceremony. Our fashion favorite was Jana Plodková, who took a risk and changed her dress to a jacquard skirt with a crop top by Zuzana Kubíčková, as well as Aňa Geislerová – she wore a unique beer gown designed by Jakub Polanka.
It is also necessary to praise the fuchsia model of Jitka Čvančarová from the workshop of designer Petra Balvínová or the pleated dress of the Ukrainian brand J’amemme, worn by model Daniela Peštová.
And the biggest fashion star this year is…
You can find the most successful looks that are really worth paying attention to in the photo gallery. And although most of the stars are represented only once, you can find one lady there in three different fashions. Eliška Křenková, who premiered Matěj Chlupaček’s new film drama at the festival, titled Dawn, she alternated one great outfit after another. At the opening, she scored in a black semi-sheer dress from the workshop Lukáš Macháček, from which she later wore a set consisting of a corset dress and trousers. And it is impossible to forget her blue dress with a train by Hana Zárubová.
Actress Daniela Kolářová scored again at the closing ceremony: In a beautiful designer dress Boris the King received from Jiří Bartoška the festival president’s award for outstanding contribution to Czech cinematography.
