High-profile murder of students in the Stołowe Mountains. “GW”: A breakthrough after 23 years

There is a breakthrough in the murder of two students in the Stołowe Mountains. Their bodies were found on August 27, 1997 at the Corner. For years, the perpetrators were sought, but the investigation was very difficult. According to “Gazeta Wyborcza”, the policemen found a pistol from which young people were shot.

Anna Kembrowska and Robert Odżga were going from Duszniki to Karłów, where they were to reach the science camp. They contacted the family for the last time August 17, 1997. And hearing about them was lost. Their bodies were found after 10 days.

Both of them had their shoes off. Anna’s body was partially exposed, suggesting a rape, however, this was ruled out during the investigation. They were both shot. One witness said he heard a girl scream and then a shot. Robert died before her eyes. Anne was later killed by shooting her in the forehead.

Over the years, it was unknown what exactly happened. Robbery and sexual motives were excluded. It wasn’t about drugs either. They were to be trained in the area mercenaries and it was believed that they might have been related to it, but here too the investigation yielded no results.

The workshop was also taken neo-Nazis. The Blood and Honor group often met in the vicinity of Duszniki-Zdrój, and Anna and Robert they were killed on the 10th anniversary of Rudolf Hess’s suicide.

As indicated Agnieszka Dobkiewicz in “Gazeta Wyborcza”, names were constantly added to the list of potential perpetrators. It was thought that a Roman, a Czech wandering around, might have been behind the crime. Investigators thought he might have been a murderer hiding in Poland. Two killers who had carried out the executions were checked. Krzysztof Gawlik, the serial killer of “Scorpio”, was also suspected. But they all had an alibi.

There was also a thread of a man with whom Anna and Robert were seen. A memorial portrait was made, but no one came forward in the case of “Blond”.

At the beginning of the year, the Krakow “X-archive” took up the investigation. According to “Gazeta Wyborcza”, a few months later information appeared that a weapon was found accidentally, from which a pair was killed.

Anna and Robert were shot with three shots from a 9mm pistol. It is known that this weapon comes from the Czech Republic. There were supposed to be two killers.

According to “Wyborcza”, in July policemen from Kłodzko detained two men suspected of drug trafficking. He’s 30- and 64-year-old. They found 39 firearms and a lot of ammunition. It turned out that one of the guns from which students were shot was found in the arsenal.

According to “GW”, investigators searched the area where the bodies of Anna and Robert were found. However, the prosecutor’s office does not provide any information.
