High geomagnetic activity is expected in the near future.
A forecast of solar and geomagnetic activity for April 22-24 2024 published US Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Space Weather Forecast Center.
Geomagnetic storms are classified according to power level – K index – from 2 to 9. The higher the K index, the stronger the storm and the impact it has on people and equipment.
Note that the forecast may still change, as solar activity researchers update their data every three hours.
On MondayApril 22ndA powerful magnetic storm with a K index of 6 (red level) is expected, and Tuesday and WednesdayApril 23 and 24its strength will decrease to index K 4 (yellow level), but still the storm will still be very strong and will affect people’s well-being.
