Incorrect photos online pointed out Hideo Koijma as Shinzo Abe’s killer.

The assassination of former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe shook Japan last Friday. It was later reported that 41-year-old Tetsuya Yamagami confessed to the murder and that the reason was that he was disappointed with Abe. Detailed information about Yamagami about who he was and his life began to spread online. Unfortunately, a picture of game developer Hideo Kojima was also spread, which was linked to the murder. A Greek news channel then used the images and did a report in which they pointed out Kojima as the killer.

It all started as one really bad joke on the forum 4chan that Kojima resembled Yamagami. Comparative images between the two were posted there which were then spread to twitter. On twitter, the senior extreme politician Damien Rieu then re-posted the pictures with the text “The left kills”. The tweets with the pictures have now been removed, but the damage had already been done and by then, as written, the Greek media had already had time to do a report about the “killer” Hideo Kojima.
Kojima production has taken to twitter in the wake of this, asking everyone to stop spreading false information. Furthermore, they will also take legal action against anyone who continues to spread this false news.
