Darmstadt’s Mayor Jochen Partsch and Rodgau’s First City Councilor Michael Schüßler elected Vice-Presidents
At its most recent meeting in the Kassel Auestadion, the general assembly of the Hessian Association of Cities elected Jochen Partsch, Lord Mayor of the City of Science Darmstadt, as Vice President. The new President of the Hessian Association of Cities is the Mayor of Fulda, Heiko Wingenfeld, who succeeds his Kassel counterpart Christian Geselle. Other vice-presidents are Christian Geselle (Kassel) and First City Councilor Michael Schüßler (Rodgau).
“The pressing issues of our time – first and foremost all measures to protect the climate, but also to cope with the consequences of the climate change that has already occurred – make it abundantly clear that the municipalities are developing strategies together and taking a joint position vis-à-vis the federal and state levels,” emphasized Mayor Partsch . “This was shown, not least, by the efforts made to deal with the Covid-19 pandemic. As a municipal umbrella association, it is also the core task of the City Council to work to maintain and strengthen the financial performance of Hessian municipalities. Because only if this is guaranteed can we serve the citizens as a living community needs. For this responsible task, “says Partsch,” I stand up with full commitment. “
The Hessian Association of Cities and towns and municipalities of the state belong to the state. All five independent cities and all seven special status cities are members. Through joint consultations, the interests of the municipalities are effectively introduced in the run-up to legislation and when it is introduced.
The constituent meeting of the Presidium and Main Committee of the Hessian Association of Cities was preceded by the 24th general meeting of the municipal umbrella association with numerous delegates and guests, which this time took place in Kassel and, due to the pandemic, in the Auestadion. The magistrate of the City of Science Darmstadt was represented by Mayor Jochen Partsch, Mayor Barbara Akdeniz and City Treasurer André Schelllenberg as well as the honorary city councilors Iris Behr and Wolfram von Rotberg; In addition, City Councilor Yücel Akdeniz and City Councilors Elisabeth Decker and Kevin Kunkel were part of the Darmstadt delegation.
