“Hertha BSC Fans Rally to Save Club from Financial Disaster with GoFundMe Campaign”

As BZ already reported, Hertha managing director Thomas Herrich (59) had to concede at the general meeting: “If we cannot prove the economic ability to act, we will not receive a license.”

Without a license, bankruptcy would probably be inevitable. Because without professional game operations, no significant income (TV money, viewer income, sponsors) could be achieved. The result would be a crash down to the regional league!

A horror scenario that worries many fans. Probably also because the almost 1,500 members initially only heard a lot of non-binding statements on the subject of finances at the general meeting.

Now the fans themselves want to try to save their club. On the “gofundme” page, a donation page under the title “Together we are Hertha BSC”.

The initiator of the campaign is Marvin Brumme (37). The bricklayer and concrete master wanted to become Hertha President last summer, but only received 26 votes. In the end, Kay Bernstein (42) became president.

Marvin Brumme told BILD about his appeal for donations: “The idea came to me at the general meeting. So far there are 19 donors who have paid in a total of almost 800 euros. It’s just a drop in the ocean, but maybe it will help that we get even closer together in such difficult times.”

The first milestone is 100,000 euros. “All employees of the club, the management and the board, simply everyone responsible for the club from Hertha BSC are kindly asked to make a small contribution,” writes Bromme on the donation page.

And further: “All 36 Bundesliga clubs can feel addressed, all players and coaches. Just everyone who loves football.”
