In Gouda, a cyclist has taken an injured heron in his pannier. The heron had broken a leg and the cyclist wanted to help the animal.
It was probably hit. The cyclist took the heron home and called the animal ambulance.
Employees of the Center for Animal Aid in Gouda took him with them. Today an employee said to Broadcasting West that a vet put the heron to sleep. The broken leg could not be repaired.
