While Tenet, Christopher Nolan’s latest film arrives at the end of August, you must have noticed that Inception is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year and that the film is also showing again in some cinemas, it has even been shown on TV the last days. The opportunity for us to come back to the end of the film which made a lot of talk about it, with many theories that have roamed the web for many years. Today we bring you a short video that could clarify a crucial point of the film’s script: is Cobb dreaming about the end?

The site Screen Rant indeed looked into this question some time ago, and developed no less than 3 rather coherent theories which prove that Cobb is indeed at the end in the real world …
- No, the spinning top is not Leonardo Di Caprio’s totem, since this role is fulfilled by his alliance. A small change that explains a lot of things about the end, giving a real explanation of the hero’s fate.
- Michael Caine had explained during an interview that after reading Inception’s script, he found himself very confused, not knowing how to distinguish between dream and reality, so he asked Christopher Nolan for help to see more clearly:
« When I got the script forInception, I was a little puzzled and I said to him “I don’t understand when is the dream”, I said to him “When is it a dream and when is it reality? “To which he (C. Nolan) replied to me:” OK, when you are in the scene, it is reality. So understand, if I’m in it, it’s reality. If I’m not in it, it’s a dream ». - At the end of the film, Cobb’s children wear outfits similar to the ones he remembers, but their shoes are different, and so is their age. Moreover on IMDB, we can see that there are two groups of actors credited with playing the children of Cobb. The daughter, Phillipa, is said to be both 3 and 5 years old, while the son, James, is both 20 months and 3 years old. This suggests that while it may be subtle, there is a difference between the kids in Cobb’s memories and the kids when Cobb comes home.
