Herbal Pads with Deodorant Can Trigger Abnormal Leucorrhoea

Suara.com – Bandage herbs with deodorants are not recommended for vaginal health because they can affect the pH balance in the organ. So said dr. Cynthia Agnes Susanto, SpOG from the University of Indonesia.

“If there is a smell (deodorant) it is not recommended because it can kill the flora in the vagina, I’m afraid that deodorant in sanitary napkins is dangerous for the vagina,” said dr. Cynthia in a health webinar, Saturday (25/9/2021), as quoted from Antara.

The normal pH level of the vaginal arena is around 3.8 to 4.5, including the acidic pH. If bacteria and fungi aka flora in bacteria become unbalanced, complaints such as: abnormal whiteness (pathological) may occur.

Quoted from WebMd, disturbed vaginal pH levels can cause bacterial vaginosis which causes vaginal discharge, fishy odor, itching, and an uncomfortable sensation when urinating.

An imbalance in pH can also cause a yeast infection that makes the vagina red and itchy.

Pads with fragrances are also not needed because the vagina can be irritating.

Pads should be changed every 3-4 hours or when they feel wet so as not to irritate the intimate organs because the area is damp. Changing pads regularly will prevent bacteria from growing and help control odors.

Choose pads that match the amount of menstrual blood. When menstrual blood is flowing heavily, choose a large size to prevent leakage.
