In the event of a fire, even involuntary, fines of up to € 150,000, as well as imprisonment, may be imposed. Damages can also be claimed. Controls will be carried out to ensure compliance with these regulations, particularly in the most frequented natural areas and during periods of high risk of forest fires. Forest fires of voluntary origin, which necessarily lead to a complaint being filed, are also systematically investigated in the field in order to determine the cause. These investigations feed into legal proceedings, thus making it possible to trace back to the perpetrators of these malicious fires.
