Hemodonation maintains its urgent appeal to donors of all blood groups

The Canarian Institute of Hemodonation and Hemotherapy (ICHH), dependent on the Ministry of Health of the Government of the Canary Islandshas launched this week an urgent notice to the population so that they go to donate blood before going on vacation, an appeal that seeks to maintain the stock of blood products in the most critical period of the year, the summer.

At this time, donations from all blood groups are needed. In addition, there is an urgent need to increase platelet reserves, which are used in different hospital procedures such as the treatment of haematological, oncological, leukemia patients or in certain transplants, and have the particularity that they expire in just 7 days, so ongoing and frequent donations are needed to maintain the stock.

Donation Protocol

To donate blood you can go directly or you can request an appointment by calling 012 or 922 470 012 / 928 301 012 (option 8), Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. or by filling in the form published on the cover of the web effect donacion.com. Donation points operational on the weekend

This weekend it will be possible to donate blood without an appointment in Tenerife, Gran Canaria and La Palma.

In Tenerife, you can donate on Saturday at the Hospital Universitario de Nuestra Señora de Candelaria from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and at the Hospital Universitario de Canarias from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and from 3:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. . In this last hospital center you can also donate on Sunday from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.

The first week of August, the ICHH will have temporary donation points in operation in the municipalities of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Arucas, Telde, La Laguna, Icod de los Vinos, La Oliva, San Bartolomé and Arrecife.
