Heineken completely withdraws from Russia, Carlsberg also leaves | Financial

Heineken previously announced that it would stop producing and selling its Heineken beer in Russia due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine. No new investments were made and no more exports were made to Russia. But Heineken also produced many local beer brands, for example the beers Zhigulevskoe and Oxota. That’s why the company had started thinking about what it wanted to do with all its Russian activities.

‘Shocked and deeply saddened’

“We are shocked and deeply saddened to see the war in Ukraine continue to unfold and intensify,” the group said in a statement. With approximately 1800 employees, the company claims to be the third largest brewer in the country.

The intention is to find a new owner for the Russian parts. No profit will be made on this, Heineken states. The company also says that the salaries of the staff will be paid at least until the end of this year. Heineken also wants to do its utmost to ensure that employment continues to exist in the future.

Carlsberg has also decided to leave Russia. The Danish beer group has great exposure in the Eastern European country with no fewer than 8 breweries.
