Heineken benefits from reopening catering and higher prices | NOW

Beer brewer Heineken has benefited considerably over the past six months from the reopening of the catering industry in Europe and the recovery in Asia. The group saw its turnover rise by no less than 37 percent to 16.4 billion euros.

The price increases, with which Heineken wants to absorb the increased costs for raw materials, energy and transport, also contributed to an increase in turnover.

“We are satisfied with the results for the first half of the year. We have benefited from the recovery in Asia and the reopening of the catering industry in Europe. Consumers are going out again, despite the high inflation,” says CEO Dolf van den Brink.

Heineken made a profit of almost 1.3 billion euros, an increase of more than 22 percent compared to a year earlier.

The brewer will raise prices in the catering industry on Monday, Heineken announced earlier. Beer is on average 5.8 percent more expensive. The brewer has previously made agreements with supermarkets about a similar price increase.
