Hedge ready for final – Rytting Kaneryd match hero

On Saturday afternoon, Hammarby hosted BK Häcken in the semifinals of the Swedish Cup. Hammarby played with mourning bands when the football legend Ronnie Hellström, who passed away at the beginning of February, was buried on Saturday.

The first half offered a lot. BK Häcken grabbed the baton but Hammarby resisted and it was the home team who scored the semifinal first goal.

But first they had a great chance in the sixth minute. National team striker Madelen Janogy and Matilda Vinberg wall-played into the penalty area where the Häcken goalkeeper, Jennifer Falk made herself big and denied the Hammarby management goal.

But barely six minutes later, Vinberg arrived again. It became dangerous on the right wing where Emma Westin made herself free and could record the ball to Vinberg who could easily poke the ball behind Falk to 1-0.

And Hammarby continued to push forward but did not manage to come to any dangerous chances. After 32 minutes, Janogy sent the corner kick right to Anna Julia Csiki who headed it sharply past the keeper. But it was none of that free kick for the home team.

Then came the blow for Häcken. Elin Rubensson was forced to step down injured – Rubensson hit a pass to the right wing and continued to play for half a minute before she then sat down in the grass and was replaced by the newly acquired Marika Bergman Lundin.

Just before the halftime break, Häcken’s receipt came. Mille Gejl Jensen played until compatriot Stine Larsen who could place the ball at the front post.

The second half was not as eventful as the first and but the home team looked stronger. And in the 72nd minute came the second most dangerous chance of the second half. Adelina Engman was the strongest on the left wing and recorded the ball to Hanna Folkesson who was denied by Falk who once again played great.

1-1 stood after regular time and the semifinals went to extra time. There it was noticeably irritated from both Häcken and Hammarby. But still aimless. At the end of the first overtime quarter, Janogy fell to the ground and appeared to have cramps in his calf. The Swedish national team striker had to step down.

With 109 minutes played, the home side managed to get a 1 – 0 lead as Johanna Rytting Kaneryd flipped the ball in after a cross from the right.

– It was incredibly nice when the ball rolled in. It was a matter of attitude in this match and we really rose during the extra time. They go out well, we find it difficult to play out of their pressure and then we do not find the right one in our press either. Which has been one of our strengths this preseason. We are not right in our game. There was a lot of back and forth, and a lot of running meters. It was just a matter of attitude, says Rytting Kaneryd.

At the same time, she thinks that the victory meant more than just a final place.

– It was very important to get this victory. We have lost many players, gained some players and we have really come together as a team now. This is just a receipt that we will be in the final.

Which opponent do you prefer to face in the final? Rosengård or Eskilstuna?

– It does not matter who we get to meet in the final. It is clear that it would have been fun to meet Rosengård because there is some rivalry there, but it does not matter.

BK Häcken is thus ready for the final, where the winner between Rosengård and Eskilstuna is waiting.
