RECHARGING: A car burned out after catching fire while recharging at a gas station in Bergen.

There was a major fire in an electric car that was awaiting fast charging at Cirke K in Nordre Brurås in Bergen on Saturday night.

– The car completely caught fire and now the charging station is also on fire, reports the fire brigade at 2:06.

At 2:30 an eyewitness says the firefighters now appear to be in control.

– We are now in control, but we are still working on extinguishing, says duty commander Jostein Steinsland-Haugen in 110 Vest.

According to firefighters, there was no one in the car and no one was injured as a result of the fire.

– It was a bit dramatic with a lot of smoke. I was afraid that the fire would spread to the gas station, or that someone was in the car, says Espen Strøm, who was an eyewitness to the whole thing.

The car appears to be burned out. Steinsland-Haugen has never experienced a fire in fast chargers and believes it’s too soon to say anything about the cause.
