Heat wave in New York will be one of the worst in decades

With increasing humidity, the heat in the Big Apple will be “unbearable”, some experts say.

New York will experience one of its worst heat waves not seen in decades, forecasters warned in recent hours.

Meteorologists indicated that the heat will decrease but that the humidity will increase, which will make the Big Apple feel much hotter this week.

“It’s going to be gross outside. The dew point will increase in the next few days, so it will feel even worse ”said the Accuweather meteorologist, Brett Rossio a The New York Post el domingo.

On Sunday, the heat in the city rose to 92 degrees Fahrenheit. Meanwhile, temperatures are expected to peak at 89 degrees on Monday, June 7, followed by 88 on Tuesday and 87 on Wednesday, and afternoon storms are expected to cool things down a bit.

New Yorkers will experience a strong heat wave from this Monday that will last until next Wednesday when a cold front arrives from Canada, which could lower the temperature.

On Sunday, to keep warm, New Yorkers visited beaches, hydrated and did outdoor activities, but looking for some shady spaces.

“The scorching hot and suffocating climate of a wide ridge will continue in the long term,” He said Kyle Theim, Meteorologist with the Atlanta office of the National Weather Service (NWS).

“Temperatures as of Monday will be between 10 and 15 degrees (Fahrenheit) above normal, and will touch the record highs, both for the daily highs and lows,” added.

Up to 70 daily heat records can be broken from this Sunday, June 6 to Wednesday, June 9. The heat wave is due to a high pressure system dominating the eastern half of the United States, the NWS said in a report.

Experts predict that some cities such as Atlanta, Nashville, Tennessee, Baltimore and Montgomery, Alabama, will have several days of record heat.

The high temperatures will have a break when the strong cold front arrives from Canada, where the temperature is expected to drop a bit.

“A strong cold front will pass between Sunday night and Monday morning, finally giving us a respite from the heat and humidity of summer”, the NWS Boston office said.

Cities like Boston, New York and LexingtonThey normally see 89 ℉ from June 1, but each of these cities will see these temperatures at least once in the next five days, experts said.

The heat wave quickly reached the United States, without being completely in the summer. Many people did not take their precautions against the intense temperatures. Meteorologists recommend: stay well hydrated, wear sunscreen, wear loose-fitting and light-colored clothing, and never leave people or pets in vehicles.
