The boy was found around 2 p.m. (local time) by Roxy Lane, who called the emergency services not much later.
The note also read: “I was born today, December 31, 2021, at 6 am. I was born twelve weeks premature. My mother was 28 weeks pregnant when she had me. My parents and grandparents have no food or money to raise me. They NEVER wanted it this way for me.”
The baby’s mother has said through the note that she is ‘very sad’ and hopes for a loving life for the boy: “Please take me and take me to a loving family. My name is Teshawn.”
The baby was taken to hospital and was found to be in good health.

In despair
“I’ve been trying to put my feelings in place all day,” Roxy Lane wrote on Facebook. The Fairbanks resident found the child with several other boxes near her home. In her message, she also writes that if anyone knows the baby’s mother, she may need medical attention: “or she may be in a desperate situation, abandoned.”
“Obviously someone in our community felt so desperate that she had to make the hardest decision of her life and left the baby on the side of the road.”
Lane writes: “Today I saved a baby. I will probably think about Teshawn for the rest of my life.”
