Health tips: Use these wraps to overcome the common cold

It doesn’t always have to be overpriced medication from the pharmacy to fight a stubborn cold. One or the other natural home remedies can also help with health problems such as a sore throat, cough or fever. The traditional wraps and envelopes have a special effect. But how and when is it best to use them?

When coughing

Breast wraps can be strong to cough alleviate, linen cloths moistened with water are best suited for this. If you have a stubborn cough, use warm water, which has an antispasmodic effect on the bronchial muscles and promotes expectoration. Cold water, on the other hand, has an anti-inflammatory effect and lowers the temperature.

The linen cloth should extend from the armpit to the ribs. A dry towel comes over it. Finally, a dry woolen cloth is placed over it to generate warmth. The wrap should lie on the chest until sweat breaks out. You should use the breast wrap once or twice a day. A tip: Various additives such as herbal and thyme tea or lemon juice increase the effect of the wrap.

With sore throat

Burning sore throats are often only the pioneers of a nasty tonsillitis or flu. A neck wrap can relieve swelling of the lymph nodes. Simply dip a linen cloth in cold water, wring it out and put it around the inflamed neck. Again put a dry towel and a woolen towel over the wrap. The whole thing should take about an hour. Apply the wrap up to six times a day.

For the warm version, hold the linen cloth under warm water or hot tea, e.g. chamomile or sage, wring it out and put it on your neck. So that the heat lasts a long time, it is best to put a few boiled, mashed potatoes on the linen cloth and then loop it around with a dry towel.

With fever

Calf wraps help with feverish temperatures. Simply moisten two towels with cold water, place them on the calves and wrap them with a dry towel. The wrap remains on the calves until the towels warm up. Then remove the envelope as it no longer dissipates heat. To prevent this from happening too quickly, simply put some curd on the wet cloth. The wipes should extend from the back of the knee to the ankle. Important: Do not use a woolen cloth as a third layer for calf wraps. This prevents the heat dissipation effect.

No complications with these complaints

If you have a high and long-lasting fever, you should not use calf wraps. Especially not if you feel cold or chills, because this can cause bladder or kidney pelvic infections. Is it a fever or that cold a visit to the doctor is due after three to four days. Caution is advised anyway for seniors and children.
